"Wagyu of Pork"

At Moore Meats, we are best known for our American Wagyu beef. Over time, many of our customers began asking what other premium proteins we might explore. That curiosity led us to research heritage pork breeds, knowing that the crown jewel would be the Iberian hog—often referred to as the “Wagyu of pork.” Renowned for its darker color, rich flavor, and exceptional marbling, the Iberian hog traces its roots to Spain and Portugal, where it is traditionally raised on acorns.

After extensive research, we located a high-quality herd at Glendower Farms in Monticello, FL. In April of 2025, we set out on a road trip and brought home our first breeding stock—six females and two boars. Remarkably, we welcomed our first litter just days later on April 21st, marking the beginning of our Iberian hog program here in West Grove.

Free-Range Pork

Our Iberian hogs are raised free-range on pasture and fed a carefully managed, high-quality diet that includes surplus produce from trusted local partners such as Glen Willow Orchards and Yates Produce. To further our sustainability efforts, we work with The Jawnery bakery to utilize bakery scraps as part of the rounded hog diet. When needed, we supplement with protein-rich grain to ensure balanced nutrition and optimal growth. This thoughtful approach results in pork that is exceptionally flavorful, tender, deeply satisfying, and not to mention, sustainable.

Iberian Hogs

oday, Iberian pork has become a defining specialty of Moore Meats. Visitors can often see these beautiful hogs roaming our pastures at the farm in West Grove, reflecting our commitment to transparency and responsible farming.

For those interested in learning more about Spanish Iberian hogs, we encourage you to explore the work of Acorn Seekers and Hines Boyd of Glendower Farms, who played a key role in supporting the original U.S. import of Iberian hogs in August of 2014. Their efforts helped make it possible for farms like ours to raise this remarkable breed today.
